When going on an adventure a backpack is a must…
Decades (centuries?) Before backpacks were used for school, they were used by traveling people all over the world. People would need to rely on backpacks to haul their belongings, often through severe weather conditions.
The modern backpack was designed by a man named Henry Merriam. He fused the two most common designs of the era — the wood frame and the soft canvas rucksack. He called his design a knapsack and had it patented in 1878. His design was imperfect and uncomfortable. They were either too stiff or too soft, causing back and shoulder pain. He improved on this design, using sheet metal to keep the bag away from the body, hoping that would reduce some of the strain.
Fast forward to today and the many improvements that backpack manufacturers have made. Between now and the very first design, nylon was invented, a far superior material to all others used before. Zippers were added, designs were improved upon, and now there are a multitude of styles from which to choose. This particular backpack, available in six colors and two sizes, is an excellent choice for the hiker, backpacker, camper, sportsman in your life.
